About

All Good in the Wood is a sustainable and creative timber merchant and sawmill in the heart of Gloucestershire. Specialising in English Sweet Chestnut and English Oak, all of our wood comes from the beautiful forests and woodlands in the surrounding areas.

We have a full-circle process, whereby all our materials are used from tree to dust. Rough sawn and planed timber can be made into battens, beams, cladding, decking and more. We use clefting and green woodworking tools to create handmade, bespoke items such as fencing, gates, panels, picket and roof shingles.

Once we have produced all the usable timber we’re left with the off cuts and character wood that is then stacked and dried ready to be repurposed. We use these materials to create bespoke structures such as glamping pods, tree houses, compost toilets, garden rooms, insulated garden studios, sheds, bothies and other sustainable buildings.

And the final piece of the All Good in the Wood jigsaw?  When stitched together, they create handcrafted sustainable buildings as if from a fairytale. Anything that cannot be turned into fairytale buildings is used for firewood, kindling or woodchip. The rest is just dust.

We also create yurts for purchase, or to hire from our sister company Bukuu Pods and Yurts.

Who We Are

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We’re a vegan-owned business that keeps our community involved with our local trading system. We’re proud of our products being locally sourced, locally finished and installed by local tradespeople, keeping our community personally involved from start to finish! We know exactly where every tabletop, fence post or roof shingle came from and where the trees grew. Call it our sustainable family tree.

“Ancient trees are precious. There is little else on Earth that plays host to such a rich community of life within a single living organism.”Sir David Attenborough
Why do we use Sweet Chestnut and English Oak?

We only ever use wood that is beneficial to the environment, sustainable, has a low carbon footprint and is recyclable to the end of its life.
We choose Sweet Chestnut and English Oak because we know that once felled, these types of trees will regrow from their stumps without the need for replanting. What’s more, these trees both contain the same tannins that prevent them from woodworm and rot.
